Haley House records

Abstract

Records of the nonprofit organization Haley House, consisting of newsletters, community log books, administrative records, outreach materials, and an extensive photograph collection of its diverse community. The collection documents numerous activities of Haley House, including the Bakery Training Program, soup kitchen, housing developments, silent auctions, street fairs, operations of the Noonday Farm, and more.

The album contains fifty-nine black and white photographs of New England buildings (mostly dwellings) constructed from 1640 through 1700. The photographs were shot approximately 1902.

Abstract

This collection contains photographs, articles, recordings, a fife, printed music, correspondence, and other items pertaining to brothers William F. and Michael C. Hanafin, their family members, and musical associates. The Hanafin brothers were Irish traditional musicians who immigrated to Boston in the late 19th century.

Bobbie Hanvey photographic archives

Abstract

Photographs by twentieth-century Northern Irish photographer Bobbie Hanvey documenting people and life in Northern Ireland during and after the Troubles. Materials include black-and-white negatives, color negatives, color transparencies, digital and print photographs. Glassine sleeves, which originally held the photographs and were annotated by Hanvey, were retained as well.

Bernard and Margaret Hayes letters

Abstract

This collection contains correspondence exchanged by Bernard Hayes and his wife, Margaret, while Bernard was serving as a Union solider in the Ninth Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry in the American Civil War. Most letters are from Bernard. Additionally, it contains the notice of Hayes's death during the Battle of the Wilderness and treasury certificates for payments made to Margaret.

Elizabeth Hayward collection of Ursuline Academy materials

Abstract

This collection was compiled by Elizabeth W. Hayward, a former Ursuline Academy student. It contains correspondence, notes, clippings, and printed material relating to the Ursuline Academy convent fire in 1834 and a reunion of Ursuline Academy graduates in 1878. The correspondence series is the largest and includes unpublished firsthand accounts of the convent fire and riots. Materials date from 1830 to 1985, the bulk from 1878.

Boston College collection of Seamus Heaney

Abstract

This collection documents the work of Irish poet Seamus Heaney through a selection of his original correspondence and manuscripts. It also includes a limited number of photographs, a recorded interview, newspaper clippings, and ephemera from events in which Heaney participated. A bust of Heaney and two artistic representations of the character Sweeney inspired by his translation of Sweeney Astray complete the collection.

Martin B. Hellriegel papers are comprised of sermons, articles, pamphlets, publications, lectures, diaries, audio tapes and correspondence of Hellriegel, a mid-twentieth century Catholic priest who served in St. Louis, Missouri. The collection primarily concerns the liturgical movement in the Catholic Church, especially in relation to the Liturgical Conference.

Historical pastime, a new game of the history of England: game

 Collection — Box: MS.2001.058
Scope and Contents

An educational game covering the history of England from the Battle of Hastings to the coronation of Queen Victoria. The game board consists of a spiralling circle with six inner rings. There are 134 small circles within the rings each with illustrations of personalities and events from English history. The spiralling rings end in the center of the board with a slightly larger circle number 135, containing a color portrait of Queen Victoria.

This collection documents the career of twentieth-century U.S. Navy Rear Admiral and Surgeon General Bartholomew William Hogan, a Boston College alumnus.
